- Does anybody actually READ comp.os.linux.m68k?
- Anyway, maybe the comp.unix.amiga crowd will help me...

-
- I finally decided to install Linux on my A4000, so I can run the software I
- need (Perl5 and Emacs-19.30+/Gnus5, since you must know :-) )
-
- However, getting the packages recommended in the FAQ, and trying to start
- the kernel (ala the Installation Guide ch. 5) doesn't get me very far...
-
- My setup:
- A4000, 030/50Mhz (Blizzard 4030), 68882/50Mhz, 8meg Fast, original 120meg
- Seagate and 340meg WD Caviar on original IDE-bus, AmigaDOS 3.0.
-
- Software:
- 25812 amiboot-3.1
- 1433600 filesys-pl4-newer.ext2
- 1095398 vmlinux-1.2.13pl9
- 1241477 watchtower-root-fs.tar.gz
- 11747599 watchtower-usr-fs.tar.gz
- 1146 watchtower-var-fs.tar.gz
-
- Documentation: (which I have read, of course, as well as a printed v2.0a I.G.)

- This happens whether I run amiboot from csh/kingcon under WB, or from Shell
- after a no startup-sequence boot.
-
- What do I do wrong, or is my machine simply unable to run Linux (!?)
-
- Thanks in advance,
